SYLKE GANDE

Sylke Gande

My artworks are a reflection of the moment. The image unfolds, as far as possible spontaneously created. First I bless the blank paper and am curious to see what happens. I appreciate working freely without sketching. Figurative and abstract emerge from my heart fast. Every picture tells a story.

Over the years I have developed different styles, themes and material preferences. I choose according to place, mood and time. So there are meditative works as well as wild or abstract ones. My art is about relationships between humans, animals, nature. Love and joy, change, traveling, pain, silence and death.

Often paintings have a great richness of colour since I discovered a wonderful chinese gouache set at the age of 17 and my passion to mix. I live in these worlds of colour. Monochrome is a contrast to this and I also enjoy and need that.
Another field Martial Arts. I am better on paper than in training and it is part of my path.

As graphic designer I find solutions. I am familiar with daily tasks such as instructions, flyers, posters, illustrations or image retouching. There have been many stations in my career from sports industry, fashion, pharma, mobile accessories, discount to car care products. My focus the last 20 years is to create layouts for product packagings.
